The Periodontology Department at Medical Park is dedicated to protecting the health of the gums and supporting tissues around the teeth. Periodontology is a specialized field of dentistry that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum diseases and related conditions.

Periodontal diseases are inflammatory disorders that affect the gums and the structures supporting the teeth. Gum bleeding is often the earliest symptom, and if left untreated, these diseases can progress and become one of the leading causes of tooth loss. With early diagnosis, however, periodontal diseases can be treated easily and successfully. Periodontal treatments not only help preserve teeth but also contribute to better chewing function, digestion, and overall oral health.

Services and Applications in Periodontology

Our department provides a comprehensive range of periodontal care, including:

  • Detailed gum examination and assessment

  • Scaling and tartar (calculus) removal

  • Treatment of gum diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis

  • Root surface cleaning and smoothing

  • Regenerative therapies supported by stem cells for tissue repair

  • Treatment of gum recession

  • Removal of gum overgrowths

  • Implant treatment and peri-implant care

  • Regular follow-up and preventive dental care

Scaling and Tartar Removal

Tartar cleaning usually begins with ultrasonic devices, which use vibrations to break down hardened deposits on the teeth. Water is then sprayed to flush away loosened particles, followed by manual cleaning with fine instruments to reach curved surfaces and tight spaces. Once all tartar is removed, the teeth are polished with fluoride paste or special polishing agents. While the procedure often takes about 10 minutes, cases with heavy tartar may require longer sessions.

Gum Recession Treatment

Different filling and covering methods are used depending on the severity of gum recession. In advanced cases, surgical techniques may be applied. These include sliding healthy gum tissue to cover the exposed area or grafting tissue from the palate to restore the affected site.

Preventive Dentistry

Preventive dentistry focuses on avoiding cavities and gum diseases through regular check-ups and oral hygiene practices. This includes routine cleaning, fluoride applications, and sealant procedures. After a decay risk analysis, patients receive tailored oral hygiene education to protect the long-term health of their teeth and gums.

Smile Design

Smile design aims to achieve a natural and aesthetically pleasing appearance in harmony with the patient’s facial structure and dental anatomy. Depending on individual needs, treatments may include teeth whitening, gum contouring, composite or porcelain veneers, and zirconium-supported crowns and bridges. These techniques work together to restore both function and beauty, giving patients a confident, radiant smile.
